Writing RFID tag information and reading this information when necessary are done with radio waves. The most widely used passive tags are activated by the energy emitted by the RFID reader and send the information on them to the reader. RFID readers transmit the information they collect from the tags directly or over the network to the computer/software system that will process this information. This incoming information is used or stored being processed in accordance with the operations requested by the user, just like in barcode systems. Although RFID applications seem to be costly compared to other applications today, they are much more profitable than their counterparts for technological tracking according to more functional and cost analysis.
